Roger Hoit

Roger Hoit has established himself as a prominent figure in the investment banking sector, currently holding the role of Managing Director at Moelis & Company. His career, spanning over two and a half decades, is a testament to his expertise in providing strategic advice to various clients, particularly within the financial sponsor sector. His proficiency encompasses various corporate finance transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, equity and debt financings, and capital structure advisory transactions. As the Chairman of the Private Equity Solutions Group at Moelis & Company, he works closely with some of the world’s most significant private equity, alternative asset management, and family office firms. His professional activities are centered in the company’s West Palm Beach, Florida office.

Before his current tenure at Moelis & Company, he played a pivotal role at Morgan Stanley in the Global Financial Sponsors Group as a Managing Director. In this capacity, he was instrumental in developing a leading advisory franchise, focusing on financial sponsors and their portfolio companies. His career journey also includes significant stints at SG Cowen, a division of Société Générale, and as a Managing Director and Partner at Gleacher & Co., marking his ascent in the industry from his initial position at PaineWebber Incorporated. His academic background, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Amherst College, has been a solid foundation for his distinguished career.

Alongside his banking achievements, he is known for his exceptional skills in amateur golf. He has participated in over 25 USGA and Royal & Ancient National Championships. This includes his participation in three professional “Major Championships” – the 2015 and 2019 United States Senior Open Championships and the 2017 British Senior Open Championship. His golfing pursuits in 2022 took him to both the US Senior Amateur at the Kittansett Club and the British Senior Amateur at the Royal Dornoch Golf Club in Scotland. Furthermore, he represented the United States team in The Bridges Cup in South Korea, a bi-annual amateur competition, where his contributions were crucial in the team’s victory.

Hoit’s golfing credentials are further highlighted by his participation and success in various prestigious Amateur Invitational tournaments. These include The Crump Cup at Pine Valley Golf Club, The George Thomas Invitational at LACC, The Coleman at Seminole Golf Club, and many others. Notably, he won the Metropolitan Golf Association IKE Stroke Play Championship in 2006, The Baltusrol Invitational four times, and has been victorious in several major amateur golf events. His dominance is also evident in club-level competitions, where he has won over 30 Club Championships at Baltusrol Golf Club, Eastward Ho!, and other clubs.

In addition to his professional and sporting endeavors, he has a keen interest in photography. He produces work across various media, including SLR, Drone, and iPhone. His photographic skills have been recognized in his exhibition, “The Eyes of Africa,” at the DeCastellane Gallery in Brooklyn, NY. His work is also accessible on his dedicated photography website and Instagram account, showcasing his versatility and artistic flair.
